[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Amid a wave of price increases from various dining franchise brands such as ice cream, hamburgers, and shaved ice since the beginning of the year, sandwich prices are also rising.
According to the industry on the 29th, the 70-year-old Taiwanese national sandwich brand "Hongruizen" will raise the prices of some sandwich products starting February 1. Prices will increase by 300 won each. The items subject to the increase are three types: Original Ham Sandwich, Ham Cheese Sandwich, and Cheese Sandwich.
Hongruizen explained, "Since starting the franchise business in May 2018, we have tried to maintain reasonable prices for 1 year and 9 months, but during the same period, labor costs have risen by about 14% or more, and costs and logistics expenses have also increased by about 10%, making it inevitable to raise prices."
Hongruizen added, "Only 3 out of 5 sandwich items will have price increases, while the remaining 25 items, including 23 beverage items, will have prices frozen," emphasizing, "We will do our best to repay customers with better products and services."
Meanwhile, Hongruizen was founded in 1947 in Beidou Township, Changhua County, Taiwan, and has since been loved widely, establishing itself as a national sandwich. Hongruizen Korea is the only Taiwanese sandwich franchise certified through a master franchise agreement with Taiwan's Hongruizen.
