[2020 Green Mobility Awards] Smart Mobility Award Kakao Mobility

[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Kakao Mobility won the Smart Mobility Award at the 10th Green Mobility Awards hosted by Asia Economy and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Environment on the 29th.

Kakao Mobility is recognized for its innovative services that make every moment of movement convenient based on the comprehensive mobility platform 'KakaoT.' This includes various functions such as taxi, designated driver, navigation, and parking. The KakaoT application has 24 million users.

There are 250,000 taxi drivers registered with KakaoT Taxi. KakaoT Taxi connects the 'taxi drivers' who used to search for passengers and the 'passengers' who used to look for taxis on the street through a big data-based artificial intelligence (AI) dispatch system, creating a new culture of taxi calling.

KakaoT Navigation provides fast and accurate route guidance updated every minute by reflecting real-time traffic flow based on the vast amount of movement data accumulated from 16 million general users and data sent 24/7 by 250,000 taxi drivers and 150,000 designated driver operators.

In the future, Kakao Mobility is jointly developing with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) to pilot 'positioning technology using LTE signals' in navigation. Kakao Mobility expects to showcase the most technologically advanced navigation service through this.

KakaoT Parking is a service that supports the entire parking process within the KakaoT app. Currently, 1,600 parking lots in the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas are available. By integrating ICT into parking lots, it realizes 'smart parking' that shares and connects parking lots, making efforts to alleviate parking difficulties.

KakaoT is challenging to connect all parking lots in the future. It is researching ways to maximize efficiency by sharing and connecting available parking lots in real time without building more parking lots on the already limited land.

Additionally, KakaoT provides various services that meet users' mobility purposes and needs, including the electric bicycle 'KakaoT Bike,' which connects destinations not reachable by public transportation.
