Nomination of Assemblyman Kim Seongsu as Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister... Resignation from Assembly Seat Today

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Kim Seong-su, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (proportional representation), has been nominated as Chief Secretary to Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun (at the vice-ministerial level).

According to ruling party sources on the 29th, Prime Minister Chung offered the position of Chief Secretary, who will assist in the 'cooperative cabinet' initiative, to Representative Kim the day before, and Kim accepted. Earlier, Kim had announced that he would not run in this general election.

Kim, a former MBC reporter, has served as political chief, news director, and president of Mokpo MBC. After entering the 20th National Assembly as a proportional representative, he served as the general secretary of the Democratic Party's Special Committee on Fair Media and as secretary of the National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting Committee.

Kim is expected to resign today. Accordingly, Heo Yoon-jung, former health and welfare specialist of the Democratic Party Policy Committee, will succeed the proportional representation seat.
