Kim Cheol-woo, Bosung County Governor, Abruptly Cancels Overseas Trip "Will Fully Commit to Responding to Wuhan Pneumonia"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Yong-chul] On the 28th, Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, held an emergency countermeasure meeting to respond to the novel coronavirus infection, chaired by County Governor Kim Cheol-woo, with about 30 heads of departments and offices, and announced that it would make every effort to respond.
Governor Kim said, "Public anxiety about Wuhan pneumonia is increasing," and ordered to strengthen the emergency quarantine duty system and actively promote prevention rules and reporting methods to medical institutions and local residents.
In particular, Governor Kim Cheol-woo canceled the overseas training schedule planned from the 29th to the 9th of next month and stated, "We will make thorough preparations to respond to the novel coronavirus."
Boseong-gun immediately established an emergency contact system with the Jeollanam-do quarantine task force as soon as the first confirmed case was reported in Incheon City on the 20th.
Then, to establish a preemptive response system for Wuhan pneumonia, on the 23rd, before the holiday began, screening clinics were set up at Boseong Asan Hospital and the public health center to allow respiratory symptomatic individuals with a history of visiting China to receive medical treatment without visiting medical institutions on their own.
Going forward, Boseong-gun plans to build a close cooperative system with related organizations to block the novel coronavirus and promote prevention rules and response methods through all-around media such as village broadcasts, text messages, and promotional leaflets.
Also, to ensure flawless response, it will thoroughly familiarize related public officials and medical institution workers with response guidelines and continue to secure resources such as isolation facilities and personal protective equipment in preparation for emergencies.
A representative of the Boseong-gun Public Health Center urged, "For prevention, thoroughly wash hands and manage personal hygiene, and if suspicious symptoms appear, be sure to report to 1339 and the local public health center."
