Gangjin-gun Activates 24-Hour Response System to Block New Infectious Diseases from China


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] On the 28th, Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that as the infectious disease crisis alert level was raised from ‘Caution’ to ‘Warning,’ it has formed an emergency quarantine task force and activated a 24-hour emergency response system to block the occurrence of patients in the region.


Concerns about the novel coronavirus infection are growing as the number of confirmed cases and deaths in China continues to rise, and a 55-year-old Korean man who entered from Wuhan, China, was confirmed as the fourth domestic confirmed patient.


The county has set up screening clinics at the public health center and Gangjin Medical Center to provide medical treatment to symptomatic visitors to prevent contact, and operates the emergency quarantine task force to respond at any time 24 hours a day when a suspected patient is reported.


Meanwhile, local medical institutions have been instructed to check whether patients with fever and respiratory symptoms have visited Hubei Province, China, and to promptly report suspected patients to the public health center to ensure early detection of infectious diseases and prevent community spread.


On the 28th, Lee Seung-ok, the mayor of Gangjin-gun, instructed at an executive meeting that all public officials should devote their full efforts to publicizing and responding to the residents to block the novel coronavirus infection.


The mayor urged, “For early detection and prevention of the spread of the novel coronavirus infection, above all, residents should practice handwashing regularly and comply with infection prevention rules such as wearing masks.”
