Nowon-gu 'Coronavirus Prevention Task Force' Operates 24 Hours

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Nowon-gu (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it has been operating the 'Nowon-gu Emergency Quarantine Task Force' since the 24th to prevent the inflow and spread of novel coronavirus infection patients within the region.

The quarantine task force consists of 13 teams including the medical quarantine team and maintains a 24-hour emergency contact system. It operates under a 'daily active monitoring system' for epidemiological investigation of suspected patients, management of patients and contacts, and transfer to isolation hospitals.

In addition, a 'screening clinic' equipped with negative pressure facilities and personal protective equipment is operated in a separate space in front of the district health center. In case of an incident, the clinic conducts examination of suspected patients, specimen collection, and epidemiological investigation.

Hand sanitizers and masks are provided at multi-use gathering places such as community service centers, libraries, and welfare centers.

A banner containing prevention guidelines for novel coronavirus infection is also installed at the entrance of community service centers.

Furthermore, hand sanitizers and masks have been distributed to on-site workers such as temporary workers to ensure safe working conditions.

The screening system for emergency room visitors has been strengthened in cooperation with Seoul Medical Center, a regional emergency medical center.

Moreover, through the district office website, publicity on 'infectious disease prevention behavior guidelines' such as hand washing, cough etiquette, and wearing masks when respiratory symptoms occur is being intensified for residents.

In particular, to prevent infection among residents, text messages containing emergency phone numbers and prevention guidelines are sent when symptoms occur.

The district requests residents visiting China to avoid contact with poultry and other animals and to refrain from visiting local markets.

It also guides that if fever and respiratory symptoms occur within 14 days after returning from epidemic areas in China, residents should report to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency call center (☎1339) or the health center (☎2116-4344).

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, "Management of infectious diseases like the coronavirus requires proactive response and cooperation from residents," and added, "If respiratory or pneumonia symptoms occur, please report immediately to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency call center or the district health center before visiting medical institutions."
