The long-rumored iPhone SE2 is finally set to be released. It is expected to launch in March this year and is anticipated to be the most affordable iPhone series ever. While Apple has traditionally announced new models every September, this year it is expected to introduce a new iPhone series in the first half of the year for the first time, with the budget-friendly iPhone SE2 or iPhone 9 set to be released.
This will be Apple's first budget model release in about four years since the 2015 launch of the iPhone SE. According to the information revealed so far, the iPhone SE2 is expected to have a design similar to the iPhone 8 and will be equipped with the A13 Bionic chipset used in the iPhone 11 series. It is expected to feature 3GB of RAM and a base storage of 64GB, along with a Touch ID home button and a single 12-megapixel rear camera.
With a design similar to the iPhone 8 but premium-level performance, it is predicted that the name iPhone 9 suits it better than iPhone SE2. The price is expected to be $399, and industry observers estimate the domestic retail price will be about 100,000 KRW higher. The iPhone 12 series, scheduled for release in the second half of the year, is likely to be launched in two versions: 5G and 4G LTE.
With the new model expected in the first half of the year, many places are currently accepting pre-orders for the iPhone SE2. On the Naver cafe ‘HotBusPhone’, AirPods Pro are being offered exclusively as pre-order gifts, attracting significant interest from potential buyers.
Interest in new models to be released this year has remained strong since the launch of the iPhone 11. Rather than price reductions, demand has concentrated on online sites offering AirPods Pro or the 2nd generation AirPods as gifts. The AirPods Pro are sold for the mid-300,000 KRW range, and the 2nd generation AirPods for around 200,000 KRW, providing greater benefits than simple price discounts.
As anticipation for the new iPhone grows, older iPhone series have also seen price cuts. Both the iPhone X, the 10th-anniversary model, and the iPhone 8, released around the same time, have begun their final small-scale second stock clearance after the first round, allowing consumers to purchase two types of flagship iPhones in the 100,000 KRW price range.
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models have been undergoing stock clearance since the end of the year, making them available for free phones, and there is an ongoing promotion offering the 2nd generation AirPods with the iPhone 7.
The iPhone XR and XS are expected to undergo stock clearance in the first half of next year, with remaining inventory being cleared out. HotBusPhone is already receiving many inquiries for early reservations.
HotBusPhone also serves as an internet comparison site and is currently running a promotion offering up to 700,000 KRW in cash support for internet subscription sign-ups.
