[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon criticized Ulsan District Prosecutor's Office Chief Prosecutor Im Eun-jung on the 28th, who exposed internal corruption within the prosecution, saying, "Are you a prosecutor too?"

On the same day, Jin posted on his Facebook, "The duty of a prosecutor is to catch those who commit corruption. That is why you are paid from taxes," he said.

He criticized, "What you think is unfair is one matter... Separately, the scoundrels who tried to cover up Yoo Jae-soo's corruption, the suspects in the crime Lee Kwang-chul and Choi Kang-wook, and their puppet Chu Mi-ae are being prevented from even being investigated or prosecuted."

Then, former professor Jin said, "But your attention is directed elsewhere. That is not the proper way to be promoted," and emphasized, "Now, please speak about this matter as well. Shim Jae-chul, Lee Sung-yoon. Is it okay for prosecutors to act like this? Please share your opinion."

Chief Prosecutor Im posted an article titled "They do that because they want to run for office" on her Facebook on the 21st.

She claimed, "With the hope of reforming the prosecution, I continuously posted reasonable criticism on the internal bulletin board, but I was treated as a troublemaker trying to disrupt the organization, and many people were convinced that my 'motive for the crime' was an impure intention aimed at the general election."

She added, "After several general and by-elections passed and eight years went by, fresh comments appeared on the internal bulletin board," and added, "Saying they want to be favored in this (prosecutorial) personnel reshuffle."

Chief Prosecutor Im said, "It is pathetic that some prosecutors cannot think of any motive other than 'running for office' or 'career advancement,' and this reality is bitter, but now there is a budding hope that this 'Indian rain dance' will finally end," and said, "Only when this tiresome Indian rain dance ends will people be able to listen to me without misunderstanding my words."

She then quoted her remarks when she received the 'Lee Moon-ok Bright Society Award' as a whistleblower in December 2017. Chief Prosecutor Im said, "When I was criticized inside and outside the prosecution for stabbing the organization in the back or trying to stand out alone, I found comfort by looking into history for those who steadfastly kept their conscience despite such criticism," and added, "I will work even harder. There is still so much that needs to be changed in the prosecution."
