[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The Bucheon City Public Health Center in Gyeonggi Province is helping local firefighters quit smoking.
Since January of this year, the health center has started operating a mobile smoking cessation clinic in collaboration with the Bucheon Fire Station to promote smoking cessation and provide smoking cessation counseling services.
A smoking cessation counselor visits the fire station to measure blood pressure, provide health consultations, measure exhaled carbon monoxide, assess nicotine dependence, provide nicotine replacement therapy, and support firefighters' success in quitting smoking through systematic counseling.
The mobile smoking cessation clinic can be requested if there are 10 or more people determined to quit smoking, and the counselor visits workplaces, schools, and living areas in the region directly. For related inquiries, please call (032-625-4414).
A representative from the Bucheon City Public Health Center stated, "We will activate the operation of the mobile smoking cessation clinic to eliminate citizens' time and distance constraints and enable more smokers to use smoking cessation counseling services."
Currently, smoking cessation clinics are operating at each public health center (Bucheon City and Sosa) and the 100-Year Health Room (Ojeong). For related inquiries, please contact the Bucheon City Call Center at (032-320-3000).
