[Asia Economy Reporters Lee Gwan-ju and Yoo Byung-don] At around 7:46 PM on the 25th, an accident presumed to be caused by a gas explosion occurred at a pension in Mukhojindong, Donghae-si, Gangwon Province, resulting in 4 deaths and 5 people sustaining serious and minor injuries.

The fire caused by the gas explosion was extinguished within about 20 minutes, but the human casualties were significant. The 4 deceased were transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest but unfortunately lost their lives.

Among the 3 seriously injured, some suffered severe full-body burns, raising the possibility of the death toll increasing. The 2 minor injury victims were reported to have inhaled smoke generated by the fire.

The fire authorities stated, "It appears that the gas exploded while grilling meat using a portable burner."

The first floor of the accident site is known to be a fish market, and the second floor is a pension. The police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the accident.
