[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] On the third day of the Lunar New Year holiday and Sunday, the 26th, warm weather will continue nationwide. In the afternoon, rain is forecast in various parts of the southern and eastern regions.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 25th, rain will begin in Jeju Island from late afternoon. The expected precipitation from the 25th is 30 to 80 mm, with some areas receiving over 120 mm.
Gangwon Yeongdong, the eastern coast of Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam regions will experience rain or snow from the afternoon of the 26th until early morning the next day. Roads will be slippery and visibility reduced in areas with rain or snow, so drivers should exercise extra caution.
The morning temperature on the 26th will range from -4 to 8 degrees Celsius, and daytime temperatures will be between 7 and 13 degrees Celsius, about 6 to 9 degrees higher than the average. Seoul is forecasted at 1 to 11 degrees, Gangneung 4 to 8 degrees, Daejeon 2 to 12 degrees, Gwangju 5 to 13 degrees, Busan 8 to 12 degrees, and Jeju 10 to 13 degrees.
Fine dust levels will be between 'Good' and 'Moderate' across all regions. However, in the metropolitan area, Chungcheong region, and Jeonbuk, stagnant air in the morning may cause levels to worsen to 'Bad' temporarily.
Strong winds and high waves are expected in the southern offshore waters of Jeju Island. Winds will gradually strengthen and waves will become very high in other seas as well, so vessels engaged in navigation or fishing should take special precautions.
On the night of the 26th and the last day of the holiday, the 27th, strong rain and wind at airports in Jeju Island, the southern coast, and the eastern coast may disrupt flight operations, so it is advised to check flight information in advance.
Sea waves will be 0.5 to 4.0 meters in the southern offshore waters, 0.5 to 3.5 meters in the eastern offshore waters, and 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the western offshore waters. Offshore wave heights will be very high, ranging from 1.0 to 5.0 meters in the south sea, and 1.0 to 4.0 meters in the east and west seas.
