[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Liberty Korea Party, recently described the prosecution personnel reshuffle as 'prosecution neutralization and judicial obstruction' and announced plans to push for a special prosecutor investigation.

On the morning of the 24th, Hwang stated at a National Assembly press briefing, "As the regime's neutralization of the prosecution and judicial obstruction have reached their peak, we can no longer refrain from discussing a special prosecutor," referring to the personnel changes made by the Ministry of Justice the previous day, which replaced all deputy prosecutors investigating matters related to the Blue House.

Hwang said, "Until now, our Liberty Korea Party has refrained from discussing a special prosecutor out of respect for the prosecution's investigation, but even within the prosecution, talk of a special prosecutor has emerged. The Liberty Korea Party will use a special prosecutor to stop this reckless regime's privatization of power."

He added, "The Moon administration is committing an utterly unacceptable anti-democratic outrage. To neutralize investigations into the corruption and misconduct of regime insiders, it is destroying the prosecution organization itself. From personnel changes at the level of chief prosecutors and above, to the passage of the prosecution system reform plan at the Cabinet meeting, and the personnel changes of deputy prosecutors, everything is aimed at creating a 'puppet prosecution,'" he said.

He continued, "The Minister of Justice is seeking revenge by labeling the prosecution's indictment of criminal suspects as a 'smash-and-grab,'" criticizing it as "a vile act of implanting cancer cells throughout the prosecution to cause self-destruction."

Regarding the prosecution personnel reshuffle, he sharply criticized President Moon Jae-in. Hwang said, "This prosecution massacre cannot be said to have happened by chance," and added, "All these personnel decisions lie with the president. We hope the president will clarify to the public whether he was aware of this or not."

He also asked for support for the Liberty Korea Party in the upcoming April 15 general election. Hwang said, "The day will surely come when the independence and neutrality of the prosecution are restored. We will reclaim the day when our prosecution is returned to the people," and urged, "Please grant our Liberty Korea Party the opportunity to set the country right again in this election. Let us achieve a landslide victory to stop the Moon administration's tyranny."
