[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) announced that it will start an exclusive charging service for electric buses in Sejong Special Self-Governing City from the 23rd.
KEPCO installed four 200kW electric bus-exclusive chargers at the BRT depot in Daepyeong-dong, Sejong City. This coincides with Sejong Urban Transportation Corporation starting operation of four 84-seat double-articulated buses equipped with 256kWh batteries on the same day.
Although KEPCO operates 8,000 electric vehicle chargers nationwide, this is the third installation of electric bus-exclusive chargers following Gwangju Metropolitan City and Naju in Jeollanam-do.
KEPCO plans to expand electric bus-exclusive charging infrastructure nationwide in line with the spread of electric buses.
A KEPCO official said, "Electric bus-exclusive chargers require a high initial investment," adding, "KEPCO will take the lead in investing to establish charging infrastructure and reduce the burden on transportation operators."
