Driver in 80s of Accident Vehicle Unlicensed... Reckless Driving Includes Wrong-Way and Sudden Acceleration
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Yoseop] A traffic accident occurred on a road in Nopo-dong, Busan, where a 1-ton truck slipped on a rainy road, collided with the car in front, then drove in reverse into the opposite lane, damaging 9 vehicles.
According to the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency, around 11 a.m. on the 23rd, a 1-ton truck traveling toward Ulsan on the road at the entrance of Nopo Vehicle Base suddenly braked after belatedly noticing the passenger car ahead but still collided with it.
The truck, which slipped on the wet road, hit the central divider, rotated 180 degrees, then accelerated rapidly, hitting oncoming SUVs and other vehicles before coming to a stop.
Following this, a chain collision occurred involving the truck, a taxi, and SUVs behind it.
As a result of the accident, B (39), the driver of the passenger car hit by the truck, was injured and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital. Although multiple vehicles were damaged, fortunately, the other drivers sustained no serious injuries.
Police investigation revealed that the 1-ton truck driver, A (80), was driving without a license when the accident occurred.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident, believing that after hitting the central divider, A pressed the accelerator due to poor driving skills and drove in reverse, causing the chain collision.
