Gwangju Bank Holds 5th "Cheer Up! Traditional Market! Children's Market Tour" Event

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Bank (President Song Jong-wook) announced on the 23rd that it held the 5th “Cheer Up! Traditional Market! Children's Market Tour” event with local children at Wolgok Market in Gwangsan-gu on the 22nd to celebrate the Lunar New Year holiday.

Twenty employees of the Local Love Volunteer Group and children participated in a hands-on learning experience by purchasing holiday foods directly using Onnuri gift certificates and receiving stamp seals in teams, receiving great responses from market merchants and children.

The children's market tour event, planned as part of revitalizing traditional markets, has been held every Lunar New Year and Chuseok holiday since 2018, and this year marked the 5th event. The program was designed to allow children, who are accustomed to large supermarkets, to tour traditional markets, purchase items directly, and make payments, providing a meaningful time to experience both fun and economic learning simultaneously.

Meanwhile, on the day, President Song Jong-wook gifted Onnuri gift certificates worth 5 million won to about 20 local single-parent families facing economic difficulties in celebration of the nation's major holiday, Lunar New Year, and purchased ritual items together at the market. He also met with market merchants struggling due to economic downturn and customer decline to listen to their difficulties and offer encouragement.

Song Jong-wook, President of Gwangju Bank, said, “I hope this traditional market children's tour and shopping event will become a small spark that revitalizes traditional markets and helps activate the local economy.” He added, “As the representative bank of Gwangju and Jeonnam, we will continue to take the lead in mutual growth with the region and persistently carry out various social contribution activities to do our best in spreading the culture of sharing in the local community.”
