[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] On the 23rd, the Ministry of Justice made a sudden personnel reshuffle involving promotions and transfers of mid-level prosecutors. At the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, which was the main focus of this reshuffle, all four deputy chief prosecutors who had led investigations targeting the administration were replaced.


The Ministry of Justice carried out promotions and transfers effective from the 3rd of next month for a total of 759 prosecutors, including 257 senior prosecutors at the level of deputy chief and chief prosecutors, and 502 regular prosecutors.


In this mid-level personnel reshuffle, the deputy chief prosecutors at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, who were in charge of practical investigations related to the administration, were abruptly replaced. Some of the working-level prosecutors under the deputy chiefs, such as chiefs who were expected to be replaced, were also changed.


Shin Ja-yong, the 1st deputy chief who handled the preferential loan suspicion case involving Wooridle Hospital, was transferred to become the head of the Busan Eastern Branch. Shin Bong-soo, the 2nd deputy chief investigating the Blue House election interference allegations, was appointed head of the Pyeongtaek Branch. Song Kyung-ho, the 3rd deputy chief who led the investigation into the corruption case involving former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk's family, was transferred to the Yeoju Branch. Han Seok-ri, the 4th deputy chief, was transferred to the Daegu Western Branch.


The new 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th deputy chiefs of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office are Lee Jeong-hyun, deputy chief of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office; Lee Geun-soo, chief prosecutor who was dispatched to the Defense Acquisition Program Administration; Shin Seong-sik, 1st deputy chief of the Busan District Prosecutors' Office; and Kim Wook-jun, head of the Suncheon Branch, respectively.
