"Faker and Kim Sun-hyung Rise" SKT Launches Sports YouTube Channel 'Scryke'

[Asia Economy Reporter Joeslgina] eSports star Faker (Lee Sang-hyeok) will compete in a League of Legends match against Choi Jun-yong, who was selected for the domestic professional basketball All-Star. National basketball player Kim Sun-hyung will personally teach basketball to promising young players.

SK Telecom announced on the 23rd that it will launch a comprehensive sports YouTube channel called 'SK-Like,' which offers content that everyone can enjoy regardless of win or loss, sport, or the boundary between professional and amateur. Focusing on various sports operated and sponsored by SK Telecom such as eSports, basketball, baseball, and fencing, it will also cover sports operated by SK Group like soccer and handball, as well as lifestyle sports such as table tennis and badminton.

'SK-Like' will present content tailored to sports fans beyond just game highlights or player interviews. Baseball and golf players will compete to hit targets 50 meters away, professional basketball players will have basketball matches against amateurs, and pro gamers will compete in games. SK Telecom plans to integrate its ICT technology, including AI-based image enhancement technology 'Supernova,' to upgrade old classic games to high definition.

Part of the operating revenue from 'SK-Like' will be used to support athletes with intellectual developmental disabilities. Additionally, related content will be actively published to raise awareness of disabled sports.

To celebrate the launch of 'SK-Like,' SK Telecom will hold an event offering generous prizes. From January 23 to February 5, participants can enter the event through the 'SK-Like' Facebook page, and two winners will be drawn to receive the opportunity to watch a match of Son Heung-min’s team in person. Season tickets for the SK Wyverns 2020 season and first-floor seating tickets for the SK Knights will also be given as prizes.

Oh Kyung-sik, head of SK Telecom’s Sports Marketing Group, said, “We launched the ‘SK-Like’ channel as part of SK Telecom’s Happy Sports initiative,” adding, “We will continue to strive to deliver happiness to customers through sports and create a healthy society.”
