Spending a Warm Seollal Holiday with Neighborly Love


[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Jung-gu District Office in Seoul (Mayor Seoyangho) announced that warm-hearted support from local businesses and neighbors is continuously arriving in anticipation of the upcoming Year of the Rat Lunar New Year.


On the 20th, employees of 'NH Happiness Filling Association,' an in-house volunteer group of NH Nonghyup Bank, visited Jung-gu Office to deliver love rice and sets of rice cake soup rice cakes and Korean beef bone soup for 60 households.


These items were prepared by NH Happiness Filling Association members who set aside a certain amount from their monthly salaries, and the bank stated that it will continue sharing activities in harmony with the local community.


TRN, located in Jangchung-dong 2-ga, Jung-gu, served rice cake soup to low-income households and donated 397 bags of 4kg rice at Yurak Comprehensive Social Welfare Center on the 21st.


On the 22nd, Hanwha Solutions (Advanced Materials Division) will serve Lunar New Year meals and deliver holiday gifts to neighbors in need at Sindang Comprehensive Social Welfare Center.


The Korea Freedom Federation (President Jonghwan Park) also pledged to generously donate 120 bags of 10kg white rice, and Jonginara will support food ingredients for low-income households.


On the 16th, at Dasan-dong Community Center, Hotel Shilla provided scholarships of 500,000 KRW per person to 30 low-income children and youth and delivered daily necessities sets worth about 7 million KRW to over 200 low-income households, warming the hearts of attendees.


Small but heartfelt neighbor-sharing events continued daily in each neighborhood.


On the 17th, Seoul New Hanmaeum Lions Club in Sindang-dong (President Namhae Jo) gathered members' sincerity to support 30 low-income households with Haengbok Bapsang. Haengbok Bapsang is a Lunar New Year food set purchased from local rice cake shops and restaurants, including rice cake soup rice cakes, kimchi, and beef bone broth, aiming to revitalize the village economy and help neighbors.


On the 18th, in Euljiro-dong, youth guidance council members and youth volunteers, along with community center staff, visited Eulji Senior Citizens Center to hold a 'Lunar New Year Rice Cake Soup Sharing Festival' wishing for the health of the elderly. Youth volunteers performed New Year's bows to the elders, spent time chatting with them, and served Lunar New Year foods such as rice cake soup and fruits prepared by the Youth Guidance Council, enjoying the festive atmosphere.


On the 20th, members of the Barugesalgi Committee in Sindang 5-dong (President Da-il Lee) personally delivered 20 bags of 10kg rice, collected through joint efforts, to elderly residents with mobility difficulties. The Barugesalgi Committee in Sindang 5-dong has been delivering rice to marginalized groups every Lunar New Year and Chuseok since 2001.


Seoyangho, Mayor of Jung-gu, said, "The news of sharing heard everywhere makes the upcoming Lunar New Year already feel abundant," and expressed gratitude to local businesses and residents who delivered warm warmth.
