[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Shin-won] Former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon criticized President Moon Jae-in's prosecution reform on the 22nd.
On that day, former professor Jin shared an article on his Facebook stating, "The new leadership has not reached a conclusion regarding the indictment of Choi Kang-wook, the Blue House Secretary for Public Office Discipline, and Baek Won-woo, former Secretary for Civil Affairs," and pointed out, "This is the face of Moon Jae-in-style reformed prosecution," adding, "Having neutralized the prosecution, the Moon family has found their own world."
He continued, "Now that there is no need to watch the prosecution's mood, the bad deeds they have done so far will be done on a larger scale," and added, "There is no longer any force in our society to check their corruption. The president has no interest in the feelings of the people; he only cares about taking care of his own family."
According to the SBS article shared by former professor Jin, Secretary Choi is accused of issuing a false certificate during the process of creating a fake internship certificate for the son of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, at the request of Cho's wife, Professor Jung Kyung-shim of Dongyang University. Former Secretary Baek is involved in allegations of covering up the prosecution's investigation into Yoo Jae-soo. However, the newly appointed prosecution leadership and the existing investigation team have been unable to reach a conclusion on the indictment opinion for over a week.
Former professor Jin stated, "Choi Kang-wook and Baek Won-woo committed illegal acts," and "If they are not indicted or punished simply because they are in the Blue House, the ideal of our constitution that 'all people are equal before the law' collapses."
He also claimed, "Honestly, the benefits of prosecution reform have nothing to do with ordinary citizens," and "The human rights it improves are for the powerful class like Cho Kuk, Choi Kang-wook, and Baek Won-woo."
Regarding Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae's remark that "there are livelihood issues in the prosecution's cabinet," he said, "What I hate most is a hard head scheming with cunning," and added, "It's not about taking care of the people's livelihood, but rather telling the prosecution, 'From now on, do not touch our big-time criminals (power-type prisoners), and go down to catch the small-time criminals.'"
