[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Yoseop] Lee Gwang-jin, Chief of the Busan Maritime Police Agency, spent time with local residents by visiting traditional markets and social welfare facilities ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
According to Busan Maritime Police on the 22nd, from 10 a.m. the previous day, Chief Lee and about 30 staff members visited Namhang Market in Yeongdo-gu to purchase ritual items and daily necessities, conducting a shopping event.
Busan Maritime Police organized this event to practice sharing love for the community during the Lunar New Year holiday and to contribute to increasing local residents' income by participating in the regional event, ‘Yeongdo-gu Traditional Market Day.’
Busan Maritime Police, together with the Dongsam Comprehensive Social Welfare Center in Yeongdo-gu, directly delivered ‘Lunar New Year holiday supplies’ such as rice, fruit, and rice cakes to 20 households of elderly living alone and disabled persons nearby.
Chief Lee said, “Through visiting the traditional market, I felt the warm affection among neighbors. I hope this will help revitalize the traditional market, which is facing economic difficulties, even if just a little. We will always be a maritime police force that serves the people and stands together with them.”
