Seoul City Councilor Park Sang-gu Confirms Total 157.6 Billion KRW Budget for Seoul City and Education Office in Gangseo-gu


[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Park Sang-gu, a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council's Urban Planning and Management Committee and the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts (Democratic Party, Gangseo 1), announced that the 2020 Seoul city project budget of 101.5 billion KRW and the education office budget of 56.1 billion KRW have been confirmed for Gangseo-gu.


Major projects in Gangseo-gu include ▲Creation of Magok-dong Agricultural Republic with 19.76 billion KRW ▲Construction of Magok Industrial Complex Public Support Center with 17.631 billion KRW ▲Construction of Gangseo Resource Circulation Center Recycling Sorting Facility with 4.5 billion KRW ▲Support for construction of Gangseo Culture and Arts Center with 2.5 billion KRW ▲Construction of Seoul Jemulpo Tunnel with 2.131 billion KRW ▲National Assembly-daero Underground Road and Upper Park Project with 450 million KRW ▲Urban regeneration projects (Hwagok 2-dong, Hwagok 8-dong) with 2.189 billion KRW ▲Improvement of parking environment in traditional markets such as Hwagok Central Alley Market with 1.068 billion KRW ▲Hwagok-dong Signboard Maintenance Project with 980 million KRW, totaling 101.5 billion KRW in city budget focused on local issues closely related to residents' lives.


In particular, Assemblyman Park stated, “As a member of the Council’s Special Committee on Budget and Accounts, while reviewing budgets for housing, urban, and safety management sectors as well as road traffic, parking, and environmental improvement sectors, I devoted my best efforts to securing Seoul city budget for Gangseo-gu residents’ long-cherished projects and environmental improvements such as the extension service of Kkachisan Station entrance, installation of canopies and elevator convenience facilities, and park environment maintenance. As a result, we have laid the foundation for Gangseo-gu to become a better place to live.”


For the education office school facility budget, a total of 56.1 billion KRW was allocated to schools in Gangseo-gu for educational environment improvement, expansion and reconstruction, and meal environment improvement.


Park Sang-gu, a Seoul Metropolitan Council member representing Gangseo-gu, said, “The large budget secured for Gangseo-gu and schools was thanks to the interest and support of local residents,” adding, “I will continue to work harder in my legislative activities in the new year with a grateful heart.”
