[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Lotte Tour Development has decided to actively promote the 6th industry in Jeju.
On the 21st, Lotte Tour Development announced that it will jointly establish a dedicated antenna shop to exhibit and sell excellent products of Jeju's 6th industry within the Jeju Dream Tower Complex Resort in cooperation with the Jeju Agriculture and Rural 6th Industry Support Center. Last October, Lotte Tour Development signed a business agreement with the 6th Industry Support Center to build a win-win partnership through the promotion and revitalization of sales of excellent products from Jeju's 6th industry.
The 6th industry refers to an industry that creates new added value through the convergence of the primary industry of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, the secondary industry of processing, and the tertiary industry of experiences. Ahn Soon-hwa, director of the 6th Industry Support Center, said, "The antenna shop at Jeju Dream Tower Complex Resort, which will become a representative tourist attraction in Jeju, will be the best promotional opportunity for those involved in Jeju's 6th industry."
Lotte Tour Development plans not only to operate the antenna shop but also to take the lead in nurturing and discovering excellent products of Jeju's 6th industry that can promote the clean image and brand value of Jeju, together with the 6th Industry Support Center.
Considering that most of these small-scale products face difficulties in commercialization and market development, they plan to implement practical support measures such as applying an expert matching system and joint brand development across design, distribution, marketing, and export tasks.
Along with establishing the antenna shop, Lotte Tour Development also plans to actively expand the purchase of agricultural, fishery, and livestock products from Jeju. The Jeju Dream Tower Complex Resort, which will operate 1,600 all-suite rooms and 11 restaurants and bars, is expected to purchase about 5,000 tons of agricultural, fishery, and livestock products annually, making it the largest single accommodation facility in Korea in terms of procurement volume.
Oliver Weber, executive chef in charge of food and beverage (F&B) at the Grand Hyatt Jeju, said, "Various fresh ingredients such as meat, seafood, and agricultural products produced in Jeju's clean nature have the potential to captivate the tastes of global customers," adding, "We are developing unique new menus using these ingredients."
