Hong Nam-ki Visits Site for Lunar New Year Livelihood and Price Inspection


[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, visited Gunsan Public Market on the 21st to check the prices and supply trends of seasonal products.


According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance on that day, Deputy Prime Minister Hong directly purchased major seasonal products such as fruits and rice cakes using Onnuri gift certificates to monitor price and supply trends. This year, the cost of setting the table for the Lunar New Year holiday (for four people, early January) is 190,000 to 230,000 KRW at traditional markets, and 250,000 to 310,000 KRW at retail stores.


Deputy Prime Minister Hong stated, "We will faithfully implement the Lunar New Year livelihood stabilization measures announced on the 7th to support the vigorous start of ordinary people in the new year and to ensure that everyone can have a safe and prosperous Lunar New Year holiday."


Following his visit to the traditional market, Deputy Prime Minister Hong also visited a coastal guard post located in Janghang-eup, Seocheon-gun, delivering consolation goods along with items purchased at the traditional market.


Deputy Prime Minister Hong said, "I appreciate your diligent fulfillment of national defense duties even during the Lunar New Year holiday," and added, "Please take special care of your health during the winter season."


He further emphasized, "The government is actively promoting the improvement of treatment for military personnel and will expand support for self-development to help smooth social adaptation after discharge."
