[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Sung-yeol] Manchester United is drawing the attention of football fans regarding whether they will pay a transfer fee of 25 million pounds (approximately 37.9 billion KRW) to acquire Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward Edinson Cavani (32).

The British daily 'The Mirror' reported on the 20th (Korean time) that Cavani has officially requested a transfer from PSG.

According to the report, PSG's Leonardo stated, "Cavani has requested a transfer," adding, "We received a transfer offer from Atl?tico Madrid but have declined it. I am not sure how things will change going forward."

According to the French sports media 'RMC Sports,' Atl?tico Madrid offered a transfer fee of 10 million euros (approximately 12.9 billion KRW) to PSG.

In this regard, the British media 'Manchester Evening News' reported on the 21st (Korean time), "Manchester United will need to pay a certain transfer fee to acquire Cavani this month."

Cavani has played 289 matches and scored 196 goals for PSG since 2013, but his position within the club has diminished this season.

Since Cavani's official contract expires in June, it appears he has directly requested a transfer from the club.

With Romelu Lukaku transferring out and Marcus Rashford sidelined due to injury, Manchester United faces a gap in their attacking lineup and is in need of Cavani.

Although Cavani will become a free agent in six months, PSG does not seem willing to sell him cheaply.

PSG is asking for a transfer fee of 25 million pounds.

PSG coach Thomas Tuchel mentioned the possibility of a transfer, saying, "I cannot be sure if Cavani will still be here in February," so if Manchester United pays the transfer fee, a transfer is quite possible.
