[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] The Gwangju Jeonnam branch of the Korean Red Cross (Director Lee Jae-seung) announced on the 21st that it held a 'Completion Ceremony of the House of Love Building with the Korean Red Cross Gwangju Jeonnam Branch' on the 20th at Hanlim Village, Byeongyeong-myeon.

The beneficiary, Mr. Lee from Byeongyeong-myeon, was selected as a case management target in Gangjin-gun in November 2018.

Due to poor housing conditions and a high risk of collapse, he was recommended as an emergency support target for the Korean Red Cross Hope Windmill in May 2019, leading to the promotion of new housing construction.

Although the project faced a temporary suspension due to budget shortages, later public-private cooperation provided 75 million KRW to build an 18-pyeong (approximately 59.5 square meters) home, culminating in the completion ceremony.

In this House of Love building project, the Red Cross Gwangju Jeonnam branch contributed 20 million KRW, the county government 15 million KRW, Honor Society member Jeong Ho-kyung 10 million KRW, Honor Society member Moon Kyung-hwan 5 million KRW, architect Su contributed 3 million KRW worth of design talent donation, Cheonggang Construction donated 17 million KRW for waste collection and disposal, and Dowon Construction donated 6 tons of crushed stone worth 5 million KRW.

Gangjin-gun has conducted the House of Love building project for a total of 23 households, but especially in Byeongyeong-myeon, the participation of the most sponsors made the new home particularly meaningful at the completion ceremony.

About 70 people attended the move-in ceremony, hosted by the Korean Red Cross Gwangju Jeonnam branch, including County Governor Lee Seung-ok, Red Cross Director Lee Jae-seung, Chairman Wi Seong-sik, Honor Society member Moon Kyung-hwan, heads of Byeongyeong-myeon institutions, and village residents.

The completion ceremony proceeded in the order of progress report, congratulatory remarks, presentation of gifts and keys to the resident, tape cutting, and commemorative photo session.

Director Lee Jae-seung expressed gratitude, saying, “The warm hearts of your sponsorship and neighborly love have come together to complete an 18-pyeong scale loving home,” and added, “We will continue to take the lead in supporting marginalized groups.”

County Governor Lee Seung-ok said, “We will do our best to promote various policies that enhance the happiness of local residents by strengthening the connection between the county and volunteer organizations,” and expressed thanks to the Korean Red Cross Gwangju Jeonnam branch and the Gangjin-gun council chairman and members for providing a pleasant and comfortable home.
