Jeonnam Nonggwanwon Launches Campaign to Prevent Illegal Distribution of Agricultural Products Ahead of Lunar New Year

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Branch of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service (Branch Chief Hwang Gyukwang) announced on the 21st that it conducted a joint campaign to prevent fraudulent distribution of agricultural products ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

From January 14 to 16, more than 70 people, including the Gwangju Malbau, Yangdong, and Daein Market Merchants' Associations, which signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on origin labeling management, as well as honorary agricultural product monitors belonging to the Agricultural Products Quality Management Service, merchants' associations, and consumer groups, jointly carried out the campaign.

This event was promoted to help revitalize traditional markets by creating an atmosphere where traditional market workers voluntarily label the origin of agricultural products through mutual cooperation between management agencies and merchants' associations, and autonomous discussions on origin labeling management, so that consumers can visit with confidence.

A representative of the Jeonnam Agricultural Products Quality Management Service said, “We will continue to hold meeting days with traditional market merchants and designate responsible honorary monitors to conduct monthly guidance and promotion on agricultural product origin labeling, fulfilling consumers' right to know and providing practical support to traditional markets.”
