[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] SBS reporter Lim Chan-jong, who exclusively reported that a senior official from the Supreme Prosecutors' Office loudly protested to his direct superior at a funeral, stated on the 21st that the allegations that he "colluded with prosecutors and went to the funeral" are "absurd."

In a post on his Facebook that day, Reporter Lim said, "I did not even know in advance that Prosecutor Yang Seok-jo would be there, and no one told me beforehand that something would happen at the funeral, whether it was Prosecutor Yang or anyone else."

He added, "Yesterday (the 20th), I explained in detail on Facebook that I was at the scene and witnessed the incident myself. Then, some people raised suspicions that Prosecutor Yang Seok-jo, who protested, and others had planned the incident in advance and 'recruited' me to come to the funeral of a mid-level official at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, where the incident took place."

Reporter Lim emphasized, "Let me make it clear, that is not true."

He continued, "Some people question why a reporter would go to a funeral. When a key figure in the area I cover experiences a bereavement, it is common practice not only for me but for many reporters to pay their respects."

He added, "Since many people working in the same field gather at funerals, it is also an opportunity for reporters to see various figures who are otherwise difficult to meet in official settings."

Finally, Reporter Lim said, "As an ordinary reporter, it is both absurd and burdensome to become the target of a 'conspiracy theory.' However, I feel compelled to write again to prevent 'conspiracy theories' from overshadowing the 'truth.'"
