[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The New Year's Greeting Meeting hosted by the Seocho District Council (Chairperson An Jongsuk) was successfully held on the 20th at 10 a.m. in the large auditorium on the 2nd floor of Seocho District Office, with about 150 attendees.
Chairperson An Jongsuk said in her New Year's address, "During the year and a half since the launch of the 8th Seocho District Council, the council members have accomplished many things 'separately, yet together.' The many achievements we have made through hard work were possible thanks to the passionate support and interest of the residents," she began.
She continued, "The Seocho District Council intends to prepare for the next 10 years of change that residents can feel. First, at a time when the role of finances is increasingly important in line with the government's economic revitalization policy, the council must focus primarily on securing fiscal soundness. Second, we must continuously review the executive branch's policies to ensure they achieve tangible results and further develop competitiveness. Third, to create an environment where residents can live safely and securely, we must emphasize safety by thoroughly reforming the 'habitual complacency.' Fourth, efforts to care for the underprivileged, including low-income groups, must not be neglected."
Above all, she concluded her address by saying, "'A just Seocho District Council that empowers residents' promises once again to help ensure a safe and happy life for residents and to support the lives of the marginalized."
On this day, Seocho District Mayor Cho Eunhee, National Assembly members Lee Hyehoon, Park Seongjung, Park Kyungmi, and Chairman Choi Jeonggyu of the Council of Legislative Affairs attended to celebrate the New Year's Greeting Meeting.
Following this, commendations were awarded to 27 recipients for their dedicated service to legislative development and contributions to community progress. Through the ‘Warm Resonance of Seocho Legislative Affairs Report’ by council members Choi Wonjun and Heo Eun, the first half of the 8th council's activities were reviewed.
Finally, after cutting the ceremonial rice cake, Seocho council members proposed a toast with the phrase Manbokrae (萬福來) for the Year of the Rat, wishing for the safety and happiness of the 450,000 Seocho residents, pledging to carry out their legislative duties with utmost dedication.
