Hiring of 591 Seoul Educational Public Service Workers Including School Meal Cooks and Caregivers

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 21st that it will hire 591 educational public employees across 13 job categories, including school meal cooks and care workers, effective March 1.

By job category, the positions include 48 Educational Practical Staff (Integrated), 22 Kindergarten Educational Practical Staff, 7 Librarians, 2 Community Education Specialists, 64 Kindergarten Edu-care Instructors, 28 Cooks, 251 Cooking Assistants, 11 Full-time Elementary Care Workers, 110 Part-time Elementary Care Workers, 33 Special Education Practical Staff, 7 Special Edu-care Instructors, 1 Special Education Support Center Staff, and 7 Professional Counselors.

This represents an increase of 100 employees compared to the 491 educational public employees hired in the second half of last year.

Notably, for the first time, the recruitment process including job announcements, applicant registration, and notification of successful candidates will be conducted through an online system (Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education website - Notice Board - Direct link to site). This aims to resolve the inconvenience of on-site applications, improve inefficient work methods, systematically manage recruitment tasks, and provide equal opportunities for applicants.

The new recruitment schedule begins with the announcement of applications on the 21st, online application submission from the 29th to the 31st, announcement of first-round document screening results on February 6, and final successful candidate announcement on February 12.

The final successful candidates will mostly be assigned to public schools at various levels, and after a three-month probation period and evaluation, they will obtain a permanent contract status with retirement age guaranteed at 60.

A Seoul Office of Education official stated, "Through efficient and rational new recruitment, we will support schools by ensuring employment stability for workers and contribute to creating good jobs."
