[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeon Seong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Jun-seong) announced on the 20th that it is recruiting candidates for the ‘Rainwater Utilization Facility Installation Support Project’ to widely promote the importance of water as the need to address water shortage issues increases by the 11th of next month.
Rainwater utilization facilities collect rainwater from building roofs or walls, filter it through a simple filtration system, store it, and use it for landscaping water, cleaning water, agricultural water, etc. These facilities consist of rainwater collection, filtration, storage, and distribution systems.
The support targets buildings with a roof area of less than 1000㎡ and apartment complexes with a building area of less than 5000㎡ where rainwater utilization facilities are installed. The support amount covers up to 90% of the installation construction cost, with a maximum of 5 million KRW per location based on a freshwater capacity of 2 tons.
The county plans to finalize the subsidy recipients in March after on-site inspections and review by the Water Reuse Management Committee for the applicants received, and will provide a total budget of 65 million KRW.
Meanwhile, the county has installed rainwater utilization facilities in 13 locations in 2018 and 14 locations last year in general houses and daycare centers, using the water for landscaping and cleaning purposes.
