AirPods Pro, Suspected Decline in 'Noise Cancelling' Function After Firmware Update

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Sung-yeol] There are suspicions that the noise-canceling function of Apple's wireless earphones, AirPods Pro, has deteriorated after a firmware update. Noise canceling refers to technology that reduces external noise.

The US IT media outlet 'The Verge' reported on the 17th (local time) that "AirPods Pro users claimed that the noise-canceling effect suddenly decreased after the firmware update."

'The Verge' stated, "According to the test results from RTINGS.COM, the function was confirmed to have deteriorated after the firmware update."

RTINGS.COM, a Canadian IT device review site, reported, "Although sound quality adjustments such as improved bass accuracy were made after the recent AirPods Pro 2C54 firmware update, the noise-canceling function declined."

Users pointed out that the problem lies in the AirPods Pro firmware update being automatically performed while connected to iOS devices. If issues arise, downgrading to a previous version is impossible, and since the update proceeds automatically, it cannot be refused.

Also, unlike other noise-canceling earphones, the AirPods Pro does not allow users to adjust the level of noise cancelation.

As a result, users are expressing dissatisfaction about the unilateral changes on internet communities such as Reddit forums.

'The Verge' stated that they have contacted Apple to understand the situation in detail.
