[Asia Economy Reporter Shinwon Yoon] On the 20th, Joo Ho-young, a member of the Liberty Korea Party, commented on Ahn Cheol-soo, former member of the Bareunmirae Party, declaring his return to politics, saying, "There is no reason not to unify the conservatives because we share the intention to stop the reckless actions of the Moon Jae-in administration."
Joo appeared on YTN Radio's 'Noh Young-hee's Start of a New Morning' and said, "Although former leader Ahn announced he would form a centrist new party, he expressed his intention to take the lead in correcting the Moon Jae-in government's wrong policies and stopping the reckless governance, to uphold the spirit of the constitution and create a country where laws are respected, leaving room for cooperation."
Joo added, "I think former leader Ahn does not have significant ideological differences but rather views one or two current issues differently, so he will consider his political position after conservative unification," and explained, "Considering that former President Kim Young-sam became president and took power through the merger of three parties, former leader Ahn will deliberate whether he can succeed by creating a second centrist new party or whether he can unite to stop the Moon Jae-in administration and be chosen."
Regarding criticisms that there are too many presidential-level candidates such as Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Liberty Korea Party, and Yoo Seung-min, member of the New Conservative Party, Joo responded, "If three individuals with strong personalities come together, there are concerns about factions following them, but from experience, division leads to certain defeat, so they must be united through concession and compromise," adding, "If they cannot unite within one party, how can they claim to manage the country?"
In response, Jeong Byeong-guk, member of the New Conservative Party, said, "The more presidential-level candidates like Leader Hwang, Member Yoo, and former leader Ahn, the better," and added, "What the people want is for such individuals to demonstrate leadership, unify, and move forward together. After stopping the Moon administration's tyranny, a candidate should emerge through fair competition."
He continued, "The conservatives must reconcile, and although it is difficult, I believe it can be achieved," adding, "Basically, it's not about 'only I survive.' The most important thing is to establish principles, and everyone should follow those principles."
