Proposal for Balanced Development Including Construction of a Complex Cultural Center in Bukhang Yonghae District
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Ki-dong] On the 20th, according to the campaign team of Kim Won-i, the Democratic Party of Korea's preliminary candidate for Mokpo City National Assembly, at 10:30 a.m. at Hadang Rose Street in Mokpo, he announced policies on job creation, revitalization of Seonchang economy, and balanced development of the new downtown, midtown, and old downtown as part of the 'New Mokpo Vision 2040' 10 major pledges.
At the press conference held in the form of an on-site announcement, Candidate Kim stated, "To lead the revival of Mokpo again, we will focus on fostering new future strategic industries and create 5,000 Mokpo-type jobs and 20,000 Jeonnam-type jobs."
Specifically, he emphasized, "We will create a hinterland for the offshore wind power project in Sinan County to attract large companies such as Doosan Heavy Industries to the wind power business in Mokpo, creating 5,000 Mokpo-type jobs."
He also proposed "a plan to develop the Mokpo New Port hinterland as the Jeonnam Blue Energy central district to successfully promote the 20,000 Jeonnam-type jobs project through the establishment of the energy industry convergence complex that Jeonnam Province is pursuing."
At Mokpo New Port, there are plans to establish a renewable energy parts production complex and a dedicated offshore wind power pier. He also explained the idea of establishing an energy bank to ensure that the renewable energy business becomes a citizen profit-sharing project.
Candidate Kim Won-i also promised to attract Kia Motors' electric vehicle production line. Kia Motors plans to invest 29 trillion won over five years until 2025 in electric vehicle mobility in line with the government's hydrogen economy leading nation policy.
Other economic revitalization policies announced include ▲prompt implementation of the West Coast Coast Guard maintenance factory project ▲creation of a specialized complex for agricultural and marine specialty products of the southwestern coast ▲leading innovation in domestic and international distribution and sales through the formation of an export distribution business group.
For the revitalization of the Seonchang economy in Mokpo, a comprehensive plan for the 7.6 km section from Samhakdo to the Fisheries Cooperative Direct Sales Center to the Korea Maritime University will be established, and projects such as promoting a national port regeneration pilot project based on Mokpo's modern historical culture and attracting the 'Smart Aqua Farm' project will be pursued.
For balanced development of Mokpo, he proposed building a complex cultural center in the Bukhang Yonghae district and attracting living SOC projects such as a gymnasium, library, and daycare center. He promised to create a citizen cultural space at Mokpo University Mokpo Campus and improve quality of life through urban regeneration New Deal projects in midtown areas such as Yongdang-dong.
Candidate Kim Won-i stated, "To revitalize the stagnant Hadang area, I promise to create a stylish city of Hadang through hosting the Arirang Dance Festival and promoting Korean traditional play as sports, and to remodel the Gatbawi Culture Town and develop it into an Oriental Painting International Expo district through the revitalization of the Sumuk Biennale."
He added, "In particular, we will develop a cultural new downtown where traditional and modern cultures coexist by creating a framing street and a traditional culture street linking the midtown and new downtown."
