[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Liberty Korea Party, stated on the 20th, "If it is a path that approaches the people and leads to the future, I will accompany anyone," adding, "I will share the burden, push, and pull along."
At a Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, Hwang said, "I will walk steadily on the path without yielding to any shaking," and "We have appointed the honorable (Kim Hyung-o) Chairperson of the Nomination Committee and are striving to present good people and good pledges."
Regarding the change of the party name from Proportional Liberty Korea Party to Future Korea Party following the Central Election Commission's refusal to approve the original name, he claimed it was a "struggle to protect the future."
Hwang said, "Upon the news of the founding of the Future Korea Party, the ruling party and colluding forces poured insults and ridicule," adding, "Who dares to discuss normality and abnormality? If the abnormal election system called the mixed-member proportional representation system had not been passed in the first place, such things would not have happened." He further stated, "If we just watch the distortion of public opinion and the theft of votes caused by the abnormal monster election law, the future of South Korea's liberal democracy will be lost," and "We will turn the colluding forces' tricks into a fatal misstep of self-destruction."
At the meeting, Hwang also criticized the Moon Jae-in administration's promotion of individual tourism to North Korea. He said, "While the population capable of working but not working has exceeded 2 million for the first time, this administration is only thinking about sending money to North Korea," and "If only half of that effort and passion were devoted to reviving our economy and people's livelihoods. The president should worry about the people's pockets, not the North Korean regime's pockets."
Hwang continued, "When the U.S. side expressed concerns about sanctions violations, the ruling party, government, and Blue House attacked by calling them the 'Governor-General of Korea.' This reveals the administration's anti-American instinct," and added, "Is it so idle now as to push forward individual tourism to North Korea even at the risk of conflict with the U.S.?"
