Naju-si, Recruiting Members for Citizen Orchestra Performance

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 20th that it will recruit members for the ‘Citizen Orchestra Performance Project’ to promote cultural enjoyment in the daily lives of citizens, following last year.

Last year, the city applied for the ‘Exciting Naju Citizen Orchestra Performance Project’ in the Living Culture Content Activation Contest of the Bangbanggokgok Cultural Sympathy Project hosted by the Korea Culture and Arts Centers Association, and through project selection, operated an orchestra composed of 78 members.

In particular, through three regular performances, the project conveyed messages of emotion, healing, communication, and harmony through music, greatly contributing to raising the cultural happiness index of citizens.

Following an analysis of project outcomes and a satisfaction survey of participating members, the project received excellent evaluations along with a flood of interest and requests for follow-up projects, leading the city to allocate a budget this year to promote the Citizen Orchestra Performance Project.

To this end, recruitment of members will be conducted from today until the 31st.

This year, an audition (scheduled for the 8th of next month) will be held through voluntary citizen participation to further enhance the capabilities of the members.

The final successful candidates will be announced on the city hall website on the 18th of next month.

This year, the Citizen Orchestra aims to hold two regular performances and will begin regular rehearsals every Saturday from March 7 at the Culture and Arts Center.

Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “Thanks to the enthusiastic interest and support of citizens for last year’s Citizen Orchestra performances, we will operate the second term orchestra this year,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to implement policies that citizens can feel and to realize a cultural happiness city where culture becomes part of daily life.”

Information on member recruitment will be posted on the city hall website’s notice board or free bulletin board, and for further inquiries, contact the Culture and Arts Division.
