Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters Volunteer Fire Brigade Provided 'First Aid Training' to 130,000 People Last Year

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters revealed that it conducted emergency first aid and disaster safety education, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), for more than 130,000 students last year.

The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters announced on the 20th that the volunteer fire brigade education program, which involved visiting kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools across the province from April last year to provide practical disaster safety training and experience in emergency first aid, has recently concluded.

This education was conducted by 636 volunteer firefighters in 126 teams, all holding professional certifications, who visited kindergartens and schools throughout the province to provide the training.

The number of students educated totaled 134,165, including 16,658 kindergarteners, 75,493 elementary students, 24,599 middle school students, and 17,415 high school students.

A representative from the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters stated, "Volunteer firefighters with extensive field experience visited schools directly to provide more vivid and practical education to students, which was highly well-received. This year, we will actively support the morale boost and improvement of working conditions for volunteer firefighters by providing training for meritorious personnel and purchasing educational equipment."

The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters has set a target to increase the number of disaster safety education participants to 200,000 this year, a rise of more than 50%.
