[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dobong-gu (Mayor Lee Dong-jin) announced that two locations, Dobong-ro (from Health Center Intersection to Banghak School) and Dobong-ro 141-gil (from Jeil Market to Banghak School), have been selected as targets for the 2020 underground power line project.
The underground power line project involves removing utility poles and burying overhead lines (electric and communication lines) underground.
A total of 7.7 billion KRW (1.6 billion city funds, 1.6 billion district funds, 2.3 billion KEPCO project funds, etc.) will be invested in the 1,440m section of Dobong-ro (Health Center Intersection to Banghak School), and a total of 1 billion KRW (500 million city funds, 500 million KEPCO project funds, etc.) will be invested in the 250m section of Dobong-ro 141-gil (Jeil Market to Banghak School).
Dobong-gu is sequentially carrying out the underground project for the entire section of Dobong-ro according to its mid- to long-term plan. In 2017, construction was completed on the 2,060m section from Ui Bridge to Jeongui Girls' Middle School Entrance Intersection, and in 2019, construction began on the 1,333m section from Jeongui Girls' Middle School Entrance Intersection to Health Center Intersection, which is currently ongoing.
In 2021, plans are in place to promote the 900m section from Banghak Intersection to Sindobong Intersection, an extension of Dobong-ro, and the 900m section around Changdong New Economic Center.
Mayor Lee Dong-jin of Dobong-gu said, “We plan to continuously promote the underground power line project. Through this project, the walking environment will improve and the streets will become cleaner. Road excavation will be conducted at night to minimize inconvenience to residents.”
