[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] The Liberty Korea Party criticized former Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon’s jeonse contract for an apartment located in Jongno, Seoul, saying, "The 'smart one house' strategy, a common tactic among speculators, was faithfully executed by the 'longest-serving Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea.'"

Seong Il-jong, the Liberty Korea Party floor spokesperson, said in a statement on the 19th, "The 'Gyeonghuigung Xi' apartment where former Prime Minister Lee signed the jeonse contract is the most expensive in the Gangbuk area of Seoul."

Spokesperson Seong added, "It has been revealed that former Prime Minister Lee has owned an apartment in Jamwon-dong, Seocho-gu, with an actual transaction price of 1.95 billion won for over 20 years. This apartment reportedly increased in value by about 700 million won over the past two and a half years. Truly a 'smart one house,'" he criticized.

He continued, "Such actions directly contradict the Moon Jae-in administration’s real estate policies, which he oversaw as Prime Minister," and sarcastically remarked, "To lead the Democratic Party in the general election, it seems he had to at least demonstrate the ruling party’s main concept of 'double standards DNA' to this extent."

He then said, "Now that it seems votes will drop in the general election, former Prime Minister Lee is rushing to sell the Jamwon-dong apartment," and criticized, "I am curious how the government plans to tell the public not to engage in the 'smart one house' strategy that the 'longest-serving Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea' led by example."

Spokesperson Seong concluded, "If a former Prime Minister can indulge in investment greed in Gangnam, what justification does the government and the Democratic Party have to tell the public not to be greedy? They must answer."
