[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization has released the "Barrier-Free Gyeonggi Tourism Guidebook."
The Barrier-Free Gyeonggi Tourism Guidebook features 29 tourist sites selected based on accessibility for tourism vulnerable groups and the attractiveness of the sites. These sites were visited directly by tourism vulnerable individuals who use mobility aids such as wheelchairs or strollers, and experts identified 'recommended routes' that allow actual movement and access. The guidebook also includes tips on using convenience facilities as well as information on restaurants and accommodations.
In particular, it was designed to allow users to check tourist site information both online and offline by utilizing mobile-accessible virtual reality (VR), QR codes, and Voice Eye barcodes.
By using the VR code, visitors can check on-site information in a 360-degree road view format before visiting. The Voice Eye code, which converts text to speech, enables visually impaired people, children, and others who have difficulty reading text to use the guidebook together. General information about the operation of tourist sites can be easily accessed using QR codes. To use Voice Eye, users need to download and install the 'Voice Eye' app.
This information can be accessed on the Gyeonggi Tourism Portal website (ggtour.or.kr).
Jang Young-geun, Director of the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, "Gyeonggi Province is full of various tourist sites that stimulate the five senses, including beautiful nature in all four seasons and long stories containing a thousand years of history. However, there have been many 'barriers' that are difficult to overcome for tourism vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, the elderly, pregnant women, and those accompanied by infants and young children, making it hard for everyone to enjoy equally. We hope that many tourism vulnerable individuals will be able to tour Gyeonggi Province 'barrier-free' through this guidebook, which was created through continuous communication with these groups."
The province has been promoting the "Barrier-Free Gyeonggi Tourism City Creation" project since last year.
