Chungnam Office of Education: "Among 4 Teachers Missing in Nepal, 2 Are Female"

[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] It has been confirmed that the 11 active teachers from the Chungnam Office of Education who participated in the volunteer education activities in Nepal belong to a total of 10 different schools.

On the 18th, the Chungnam Office of Education stated, "The 11 teachers who went on the volunteer activity belong to different schools, with only two teachers from the same school, totaling 10 schools."

Among them, four teachers whose whereabouts are currently unknown are all from different schools, and two of them are reported to be female teachers.

They departed on the 13th and were scheduled to conduct educational volunteer activities at elementary and middle schools and study rooms near Kathmandu, Nepal, until the 25th.

The accident reportedly occurred between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m. local time on the 17th while passing through the Deurali area (altitude 3,230m) on the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trekking course in the Nepalese highlands, where they encountered an avalanche.

So far, the whereabouts of four people remain unknown, five others have safely evacuated, and the remaining two stayed at the accommodation due to health reasons.

The Chungnam Office of Education has formed an emergency response team and plans to hold a detailed briefing on the accident this afternoon.
