[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is implementing the '2020 Lunar New Year Comprehensive Measures' to ensure that residents can have a comfortable and warm holiday during the nation's biggest traditional holiday, Seollal.
The district has designated the period from the 20th to the 28th as the implementation period for the comprehensive Seollal measures to minimize various accidents and inconveniences that may occur during the holiday. The plan focuses on eight key areas: ▲Having a warm holiday ▲Price stabilization ▲Traffic ▲Snow removal and cold wave ▲Safety and fire prevention ▲Medical and health care ▲Resolving residents' inconveniences ▲Establishing public service discipline.
First, from the 23rd to the 28th, a comprehensive situation room for the Seollal holiday will be operated. The situation room will be composed of five task forces: ▲Traffic countermeasures ▲Snow removal countermeasures ▲Park management ▲Cleaning ▲Medical countermeasures, to promptly respond to incidents in each area and alleviate citizen inconveniences.
During the Seollal holiday, additional buses will be operated for travelers using Dongseoul Terminal, and subway and bus last train times will be extended until 2 a.m. on the following day for two days from the 25th to the 26th.
In addition, the Gwangjin-gu Facilities Management Corporation plans to open three public parking lots in the district free of charge for four days during the holiday: Dongseoul Hotel-gil Public Parking Lot, Songlim Gisa Sikdang-gil Public Parking Lot, and Jayang Yusuji Public Parking Lot, and operate a 24-hour parking complaint center.
Also, a cleaning situation room will be operated during the holiday to promptly handle cleaning complaints and other resident inconveniences. The cleaning patrol team and street environment beautification workers will focus on managing vulnerable cleaning areas such as multi-use facilities, densely populated residential areas, and illegal dumping sites to resolve resident inconveniences caused by garbage accumulation.
To this end, all garbage collected in the entire area by the 23rd, before the holiday, will be transported to the metropolitan landfill and resource recovery facilities for processing. After the holiday, all cleaning personnel and equipment will be mobilized to collect accumulated garbage during the holiday in one go.
Furthermore, medical institutions and pharmacies that can operate during the holiday will be designated and posted on the Gwangjin-gu Office and Public Health Center websites. An emergency medical guidance situation room will be operated to ensure there is no medical service gap.
Additionally, to ensure residents have a safe Seollal holiday, safety inspections will be conducted in advance at large construction sites, performance halls and movie theaters, sports facilities, and social welfare facilities.
Mayor Kim Seon-gap of Gwangjin-gu plans to visit five locations, including four senior welfare facilities and organizations for the disabled, along with district office staff on the 20th to check on their well-being.
Mayor Kim Seon-gap of Gwangjin-gu said, "We are doing our best to implement comprehensive measures in each area to prevent various accidents that may occur during the nation's biggest traditional holiday, Seollal, and to minimize residents' inconveniences," and added, "I hope all residents have a happy and joyful holiday during Seollal."
