"Unfair to Act Under the Name of EXO"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] Chen, a member of the group EXO, recently announced his marriage and the news of his second child, but on the 15th, a statement demanding his expulsion was posted.
On the 13th, a statement was uploaded on the online community 'DC Inside' EXO gallery, stating, "We do not support member Chen's choice and feel it is unfair for him to continue activities under the name EXO, and we demand his withdrawal."
The statement said, "The group EXO is a name that fans and members have protected together despite many difficulties since their debut," and added, "Chen's sudden actions not only betray the trust of fans but also show a selfish choice that lacks even the minimum consideration for the group."
It further added, "We demand SM Entertainment to announce their position as soon as possible."
Earlier, on the 13th, Chen announced his marriage and the news of his second child through a handwritten letter.
SM Entertainment, his agency, released an official statement on the same day, saying, "Chen is getting married after meeting a precious partner. The bride is a non-celebrity, and the wedding will be held solemnly with only the families of both sides attending."
They continued, "According to the wishes of the families, all matters related to the wedding and marriage will be kept private," and "Chen will continue to repay with his unwavering dedication as an artist."
Meanwhile, Chen debuted in 2012 as the main vocalist of SM Entertainment's group EXO. He gained popularity as part of the unit EXO-CBX with fellow members Baekhyun and Xiumin, and last year, he released a solo album seven years after his debut, receiving great love.
