New Marriage Incentive Established Alongside Childbirth and Relocation Grants
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Dong-jin) announced on the 15th that it will provide newlywed couples with a marriage encouragement grant of 2 million won to promote marriage and childbirth.
The "Newlywed Couple Marriage Encouragement Grant" is targeted at newlywed couples aged 49 or younger, and a total of 2 million won will be paid in two installments. Applications can be made at the resident's town or township office.
Jindo-gun is implementing various population increase policy projects such as visiting population education, support for multicultural family settlement, and operating visiting moving-in registration services to minimize population decline caused by low birth rates and aging.
In particular, since last year, the childbirth encouragement grant has been expanded to the largest scale nationwide, providing 5 million won for the first child, 10 million won for the second child, and 20 million won from the third child onward.
Also, starting this year, a "Population Increase Pan-Citizen Movement" is being promoted in cooperation with institutions, organizations, and companies, and along with the town and township incentive system, the commendation institution moving-in encouragement grant system is also being expanded and implemented.
A representative from the Jindo-gun Job Investment Division said, "The decline in the local population is a serious issue that can lead to economic stagnation and eventual disappearance of the region," adding, "We are discovering and promoting various policies to increase the population with the long-term goal of increasing the population to 35,000."
