[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Sung-yeol] Amid controversy over academy instructor Ju Ye-ji (27)'s derogatory remarks about welders, a YouTuber working as a welder in Australia has expressed his position.

The YouTuber 'Paso J,' currently working as a welder in Australia, posted a video titled "Ju Ye-ji's Derogatory Remarks About Welders. An Australian Welder Speaks Out. Suddenly, my life became Grade 7..." on his YouTube channel on the 14th.

He has been sharing daily life as a welder and his life in Australia since April last year.

'Paso J' began the video saying, "I'm filming this video urgently while working. I heard there is a YouTube star instructor, but since it's not a field I'm interested in, I don't know much about it."

He said, "To work in Australia, you need a visa. To get a visa, you need an English score, so you have to study English hard," adding, "But Instructor Ju suddenly reduced welders like me in Australia to Grade 7."

He continued, "Since I was also disrespected, I want to say something. You say you're good at math, but I wonder why the words that come out can't calculate properly," expressing anger, "They say you need good character to teach kids, so have some character. Apologize or something..."

He also said, "Since these remarks were made in a public, not private, setting, take responsibility," and added in subtitles, "How do students with welders as parents feel?"

Finally, he quoted Ju's remarks made while trying to cover up her comments, saying, "Because I'm welding, it's hot, so nonsense comes out," followed by profanity. The welding mask worn by 'Paso J' had the phrase "You are the lowest grade in life" written on it.

In the comments on the video, netizens reacted with comments such as, "Even without welding, I feel bad. You shouldn't speak carelessly," "An Australian welder has appeared accurately. Ju should apologize," and "This incident makes me realize that character must come before skill."

Earlier, on the 13th, Ju said during her YouTube live broadcast that "Grade 7 in type A math is the same level as Grade 1 in type B math" in response to a chat message, and opened up by saying, "Type A students seriously look down on type B students."

She said, "Just because a type A student is Grade 7 doesn't mean a type B student will get Grade 1," and claimed, "Honestly, a Grade 7 in type A hasn't studied. I honestly think so. If you get all the 3-point questions right, you can't get Grade 7."

She then mimicked welding with her fingers and said, "If that's the case, you should learn welding and go to Australia. They pay a lot," and later explained with a smile, "I'm talking nonsense because it's hot," but the remarks sparked controversy over job disparagement.

As the controversy grew, Ju posted an apology statement and an apology video.

Ju said, "I want to sincerely apologize for causing discomfort to those working in the mentioned profession and to those who watched the live broadcast by referring to a specific job," adding, "Regarding this matter, I want to apologize sincerely without any excuse."
