From the 15th to 31st, visiting 18 neighborhoods to hold New Year's meetings, meeting residents... Reporting last year's work and presenting this year's district policy blueprint... Direct visits to key local sites to find solutions for major issues
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) is holding the ‘2020 Yeongdeungpo-gu Dong New Year Greeting Meetings,’ touring 18 dongs to meet 2,000 residents and share meaningful time together.
To welcome the Year of the Rat, the district prepared the New Year greeting meetings by dong to reflect on the past year and listen to residents’ valuable opinions for outlining the 2020 blueprint.
Last year’s dong New Year greeting meetings were held under the name ‘Creating Open Alleys,’ dividing the 18 dongs into four zones. However, this year, the scope has expanded to visit all dongs, allowing for deeper conversations with each resident.
Mayor Chae Hyun-il will personally meet residents starting from January 15 through the end of the month, beginning with visits to Yeongdeungpo-bon-dong and Yeongdeungpo-dong, covering all 18 dongs without exception. Through this tour, he will meet 2,000 residents.
The schedule of the New Year greeting meetings includes a report on 2019’s work, announcement of the 2020 district administration direction, dialogue with residents, and on-site visits related to major issues in each dong.
Priority initiatives such as issuing Yeongdeungpo Love Gift Certificates, dismantling the Yeongdeungpo Rotary overpass, and expanding libraries will be promoted to enhance residents’ right to know through various policies and village publicity, thereby boosting local pride. Major achievements from last year’s district administration, such as improving the pedestrian environment on Yeongjung-ro and creating the Dangsan-gol Cultural Street, will also be shared.
Additionally, the mayor and residents will have time for open dialogue in a relaxed atmosphere. This is an opportunity to listen to residents’ difficulties, empathize, and respond with more in-depth policies.
Afterwards, visits to local livelihood sites and major issue locations in each dong will be conducted to ensure residents’ safety and build a dense welfare network.
In particular, residents will present special performances prepared for the dong New Year greeting meetings. This provides an opportunity for residents to feel a sense of accomplishment through skills developed while learning at community centers and other venues.
The schedule for the dong New Year greeting meetings is as follows: starting January 15 with Yeongdeungpo-bon-dong and Yeongdeungpo-dong; △ January 16: Dangsan 1-dong, Singil 3-dong △ January 17: Singil 6-dong, Daerim 3-dong △ January 20: Dorim-dong △ January 21: Mullae-dong, Yangpyeong 1-dong △ January 22: Yangpyeong 2-dong, Yeoui-dong, Dangsan 2-dong △ January 29: Singil 1-dong, Singil 4-dong △ January 30: Daerim 1-dong, Singil 5-dong △ January 31: Singil 7-dong, Daerim 2-dong.
