Guro-gu (District Mayor Lee Seong) opened an artificial turf soccer field at Anyangcheon on the 14th.

Guro-gu announced on the 14th that it is carrying out a riverside sports facility improvement project to expand the base of community sports and provide enjoyable leisure activities for residents, and as part of this, it has completed the renovation project of Anyangcheon C Soccer Field by laying artificial turf on the ground and improving the surrounding facilities.

The existing Anyangcheon C Soccer Field was made of masato soil, making it vulnerable to dust and safety accidents, resulting in low usage rates. Because of this, there had been continuous requests from local residents and soccer enthusiasts for the construction of an artificial turf soccer field.

To address the residents' demands, Guro-gu started construction in October last year and recently completed it. A single artificial turf soccer field with dimensions of 62m in width, 102m in length, and a total area of 6,324㎡ was newly established, and for safety, a net fence was installed around the stadium. Night lighting towers are also planned to be installed by April.

Guro-gu will conduct a trial operation this month and begin full-scale operation (by reservation) from February.

The artificial turf field has advantages such as less dust and lower risk of safety accidents, and games can be played regardless of the season. It is also easy to maintain.

About 100 people, including District Mayor Lee Seong, local residents, and soccer enthusiasts, attended the commemorative event held on the 14th to mark the opening. The event included guest speeches, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, kickoff, and demonstration matches.

A Guro-gu official said, "We expect residents' sports activities to become more active with the opening of the artificial turf soccer field," and added, "We will continue to do our best to improve and expand sports facilities to promote residents' health."

Guro-gu recently also completed the renovation of the artificial turf field at Gaenam Neighborhood Park. The artificial turf was replaced, and surrounding maintenance work was carried out.
