[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] Daesung Group announced on the 13th that Chairman Kim Young-hoon will attend the 50th World Economic Forum (WEF) held in Davos, Switzerland, from the 21st (local time) to the 24th.
Chairman Kim Young-hoon of Daesung Group has participated in the Davos Forum for 17 years since 2004. This year as well, he plans to vividly share the global trends in various fields such as politics, economy, and energy discussed in Davos, as well as his impressions from the site, through his personal blog. Chairman Kim has been sharing news from Davos via his personal blog since 2008.
The theme of this year's Davos Forum is "Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World." It emphasizes the importance of social integration through reconciliation among various stakeholder groups to heal divisions and conflicts surrounding various issues such as extreme wealth concentration and failures in climate change cooperation.
The forum is also expected to announce the "Davos Declaration 2020," which calls for international cooperation to achieve this goal.
Chairman Kim Young-hoon serves as the Honorary Chairman of the World Energy Council (WEC). In Davos, he plans to exchange opinions on a wide range of topics including the recent Middle East situation, the global energy market situation, and climate change response measures with representatives of international energy organizations, groups, and companies.
Chairman Kim expressed concern, saying, "The global economy is in a downturn phase, weather disasters, which are signs of climate change, are occurring one after another, and with the conflict between the U.S. and Iran, the possibility of a new oil shock is even being raised, creating overlapping negative factors in the global energy market." He added, "I believe there will be many stories to share with leaders in the energy and environmental fields gathered at the Davos Forum during this difficult time."
