[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) held the 'Final Report Meeting for the Research Project on Gangseo-gu International Safe City Certification' at 3 p.m. on the 10th in the district office's large conference room.

The district conducted this research project to protect residents from various accidents and to establish the administration goal of the 7th elected term, "a safe environment city where life is comfortable."

Professor Bae Jeong-i of Inje University, who analyzed Gangseo-gu's safety over nine months since last April, presented the current damage status and safety improvement measures in seven areas: ▲traffic safety ▲suicide prevention ▲falls and daily life safety ▲crime prevention ▲fire and disaster ▲school violence prevention ▲culture and tourism safety.

Based on the results of this research project, the district plans to prioritize damage prevention and form a TF team to accelerate the promotion of international safe city certification.

Mayor Noh Hyun-song stated, "The project to promote international safe city certification requires collaboration with one heart and mind from all departments, not just the safety department," and ordered, "We will establish annual safety project plans for each department and promptly implement them with the goal of certification in 2022."
