[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, together with the Korea Real Estate Board, announced on the 12th the first selection of the 'Energy Best Apartment Complex,' an apartment complex that uses the least amount of living energy such as electricity and gas.
The Grand Prize, the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Award, was awarded to 'e-Pyeonhansesang Gwangju Station Complex 5' in Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi Province, constructed by Daelim Industrial. This complex was highly evaluated for its excellent energy performance, as well as efforts such as encouraging energy-saving practices through the residents' representative meeting and meticulous management of common facilities by the management office.
Lim Yang-gyun, the residents' representative of this complex, said in his acceptance speech, "We have introduced various facilities for energy saving, such as automatic streetlight timers. In addition, we promote seasonal energy-saving tips to residents and regularly check the energy usage of all households, providing guidance to those with excessively high consumption, striving to cultivate energy-saving habits."
Along with this, the Excellence Awards were given to 'Doraem Village Complex 11 (Bando Yubora)' in Sejong, 'Yangsan New City Phase 4 Dongwon Royal Duke Vista' in Yangsan-si, Gyeongnam Province, 'Minrak Geumgang Pentarium' in Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi Province, 'Innovation Blue Breath LH Complex 3' in Wonju-si, Gangwon Province, and 'LH Complex 2' in Seogwipo-si, Jeju.
The first selection of the Energy Best Apartment Complex was conducted by analyzing data based on 2018 usage from the 'National Building Energy Integrated Management System,' which is operated on consignment by the Korea Real Estate Board. The analysis targeted apartment complexes nationwide with 300 or more households completed since 2015. The country was divided into six regions considering climate variations, and six complexes were selected as Excellence Award recipients. Among them, the one with the best energy-saving performance was selected as the Grand Prize winner.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport plans to continue expanding the Energy Best Apartment Complex selection as an annual event through collaboration with the Korea Real Estate Board and the Green Building Center.
Kim Sang-moon, Director of Building Policy at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, "Green buildings can be completed not only through the performance of buildings such as insulation but also when users have a high level of awareness and behavior regarding energy saving. We hope that public participation contests will serve as an opportunity for citizens to recognize the value of green buildings and the importance of proper energy use habits."
