[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Doosan Group has signed a business agreement with American companies including Microsoft (MS) in the hydrogen fuel cell drone sector and has begun expanding its business.

Doosan's fuel cell pack subsidiary, Doosan Mobility Innovation (DMI), announced on the 10th that it signed an agreement with MS to develop a "hydrogen fuel cell drone solution" at CES 2020 held in Las Vegas, USA, on the 8th (local time). The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Doo-soon, CEO of DMI, and Woo Mi-young, Vice President of Microsoft Korea, among others.

Through this agreement, the two companies plan to develop drone software and monitoring solutions utilizing MS's cloud platform Azure, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT), and promote joint sales. They aim to create synergy by collecting, analyzing, and utilizing vast amounts of data by integrating MS's latest technology into DMI's hydrogen fuel cell drones, which can fly for more than two hours.

Earlier, DMI officially entered the U.S. market by signing partnerships with two American companies at its CES booth the previous day.

DMI signed a hydrogen supply contract with the hydrogen supplier ReadyH2, enabling DMI customers in the U.S. to receive a stable supply of hydrogen through ReadyH2. Additionally, DMI signed an agreement with Skyfire Consulting, a U.S. public safety drone operation service company, to conduct pipeline inspection projects in the U.S. This project involves DMI drones flying over major pipelines in the U.S. to check for abnormalities.

Lee Doo-soon, CEO of DMI, said, "We plan to develop customized solutions by combining Doosan's hydrogen fuel cell drones, which overcome the previous limitation of about 30 minutes of flight time, with MS's world-class latest technology. We will actively enter the global market by partnering with companies in the U.S. and other countries."
